Dmytro Yakub

Dmytro Yakub was born on October 22, 1991, in a family of a veterinarian and a geography teacher in the picturesque village of Rusanivka on the banks of the Khorol River, Sumy region, Ukraine. He learned to draw from his sister, an artist, and to work with hands from his father. From 2009 to 2015, he went to get higher education at the Faculties of Pedagogy (National University of Pedagogy and Psychology of Ukraine) and Psychology (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv). For several years, he has been working as a methodologist and head of the Pottery class at the School of Folk Crafts of the National Art and Crafts Center, making wooden toys. From 2018 to 2021, he worked on the production of monumental and easel sculptures in the team of national Ukrainian sculptor Volodymyr Zhuravel. In the winter of 2021, he returned to clay and ceramics at GORN Ceramics. For Dmytro, creating ceramic objects is a dialogue with his conscience, as well as humour and good company.
