Yuriy Myrko
Yuriy Myrko – is a Ukrainian ceramist, sculptor, and chief artist of GORN Ceramics. Yuriy was born in 1983 in the Poltava region in the village of Opishnia, the heart of Ukrainian ceramics.
After finishing school, got an internship at the Opishnya factory “Hudozhnia Keramika” as a creative master. From 2001 to 2007, he studied at the Poltava National Technical University at the Department of Fine, Decorative, and Applied Arts. After accomplishing his diploma coursework on the subject – “The Nature of Clay”, he obtains a bachelor’s degree and the qualification of a specialist in decorative and applied arts, both with honours.
From 2007 to 2008, Yuriy Myrko served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where he received a military speciality as an artist of workshops and libraries. 2008 was the year when Yuriy’s professional journey in ceramics had begun in his workshop in Opishnia.
In 2018, Yuriy moved to Kyiv and together with Bogdan Kryvosheya founded GORN Ceramics.
After 20 years of experience with clay, Yuriy Myrko mastered most ceramics sculpting and production techniques. With every new idea and piece, Myrko demonstrates limitless horizon possibilities of clay, exploring unknown textures and forms. Yuriy does not hesitate to share knowledge and experience, bringing up new masters and ceramists.
