Yuriy Sulikovsky

Yuriy Sulikovsky was born in 1981 in the Chernihiv region. After graduating from school, he moved to Kyiv where he graduated from the National University of Food Technologies, Faculty of Economics. He worked for a long time in a family business in the advertising field where he gained experience in working with hands and with different types of materials: metal, plastic, concrete and wood. Determined for further search of oneself and one’s place in the world, he began to practice and work with clay and fire at GORN studio under the guidance of his friend and master Yuriy Myrko.

” I believe that every person will be happy only in a creative process, regardless of his or her form of activity. I was so fascinated by the element of fire to the point that I was inspired to build a large wood-fired kiln right in the yard of my house. The shape seems to be embedded in the clay itself, you just need to reveal it. To place this form in the fire and let the elements do their magic. You feel like a sacred priest and at the same time a charmed observer of creation. This is the feeling of life.”
